90,000 Mazda cars recalled in Australia

The fault could cause the fuel pump to stop working, according to the recall notice.

Mazda Australia has recalled 90,363 cars across seven model lines, citing a potential fault with fuel pump.

The affected vehicles are the

Mazda 2, Mazda 3, CX-5, CX-9, Mazda 6, MX-5, and CX-3, stamped Model Years 2017-2019.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The low pressure fuel pump impeller may become deformed and cause the fuel pump to stop working. This can result in the vehicle stalling.

“A loss of power while driving could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.”
