Just three years after celebrating its one-millionth car, Tesla has now manufactured more than five million electric vehicles.
Tesla has manufactured its five-millionth electric car – just six months after reaching the four-million milestone.
The US car-maker took to X – the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, which is owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk – to make the announcement, and thank its customers for their “ongoing support” of the brand.
Tesla’s meteoric rise has seen production grow from a total of three million cars to five million cars in just 13 months.
It was a little over three years ago when it celebrated making its one-millionth vehicle.

The company currently manufactures electric vehicles at its plants in California, Texas, Nevada, Shanghai, and Berlin – with representatives from Tesla understood to be in negotiations with the governments of Indonesia and India to open new facilities in the coming years, following its next planned factory in Mexico.
The US electric-car company could soon overtake Japan’s Mitsubishi, which sold a little over a million cars in 2022.
Tesla will soon launch the Cybertruck pick-up, with unconfirmed reports suggesting its new small car could also enter production in the next two years.
