Honda Jazz busted at insane speed, 17-year-old P-plater now walking

A teenage boy will soon be buying a bus ticket or catching the train after police busted him driving his Honda Jazz at more than twice the speed limit – in the rain.

We’re not sure if it was a downhill run, or this particular Honda Jazz had a tailwind.

But what makes this story even more frightening is that the road was certainly wet.

Last week, officers from the NSW Police Highway Patrol detected an old Honda Jazz allegedly travelling at 153km/h in a 70km/h zone in the Hawkesbury area on the western fringes of Sydney.

Perhaps the 17-year-old driver thought police might be asleep at 1:42am, but alas officers were ready and waiting when they allegedly clocked the Honda Jazz at more than twice the speed limit.

The driver allegedly told police he was “just speeding”.

A statement by NSW Police said the driver will now be “just walking”.

Representatives for NSW Police said the 17-year-old driver’s licence was suspended, the Honda Jazz registration plates were seized, and the vehicle’s registration was cancelled.

The driver was also issued with a penalty notice for six demerit points and $2616 – possibly worth more than the car.
