New Ford Mustang delayed to next year for Australia

The Australian arrival of the first examples of the new Ford Mustang has been pushed to next year, amid production delays.

The arrival of the 2024 Ford Mustang sports car in Australia has been pushed back by about six months to early next year, due to production delays.

Ford Australia has reportedly advised dealers the first new Mustang examples are now due in the first quarter of 2024 (January to March) – out from the third quarter of 2023 (July to September) timing previously communicated.

An image of a bulletin to Ford Australia dealers posted to the Mustang7G fan forum claims prices and specifications are due to be announced by the end of next month.

The new Mustang is expected to be dearer than its predecessor, using the US as a guide, where new model grades are seven to eight per cent dearer than the old models they replace.

This would point to a starting price of about $58,000 plus on-road costs for the entry-level four-cylinder coupe (now automatic-only), about $73,500 plus on-road costs for the GT manual coupe, and up to $90,000 plus on-road costs for the Dark Horse track-focused flagship.
