An impatient Ford Ranger driver in South Australia has lived up to the stereotype of meathead ute owners by tailgating the car in front. Except this time he crashed and set off the airbags. Here is the Dash Cam Owners Australia video for your viewing pleasure.
A Ford Ranger driver has been left red-faced and out of pocket after living up to the stereotype of aggressive ute owners who tailgate other cars.
This time the Ford Ranger driver got too close for comfort and ended up crashing into the vehicle in front and setting off the airbags.
All this happened because the Ford Ranger driver appeared to be a little too keen to intimidate the car in front, even though the vision shows both vehicles involved are in traffic.
In case anyone needs a quick refresher on the road rules, it is illegal to drive too close to the car in front – the following driver must follow at a distance safe enough to stop in an emergency.
In a video uploaded to Twitter by Dash Cam Owners Australia, the car equipped with the rear-facing camera – said to be a Jaguar – moves into the centre lane about the same time as the Ford Ranger, as the two cars travel along Adelaide’s West Terrace.
According to the dash cam’s in-built GPS, the two cars are initially travelling about 60km/h but their speed gradually slows to about 50km/h and then 40km/h as they encounter traffic.

The Ford Ranger initially gets close to the Jaguar and backs away briefly.
Moments later, however, the Ford Ranger driver makes another attempt to tailgate.
This time the Ford Ranger gets too close for comfort and hits the rear of the Jaguar, setting off the airbags in the ute.
