Price rises coming for Toyota HiLux ute

Australia’s top-selling vehicle is due to receive a new round of price rises by the end of this year.

The Toyota HiLux ute is poised to receive a new round of price rises when a model-year update arrives in showrooms in the second half of this year.

As reported earlier, the Toyota HiLux SR5 is expected to receive a 360-degree camera, rear cross-traffic alert and blind zone warning as part of running changes and an upgrade to its safety package.

Toyota Australia has also advised dealers to brace for price increases across the Toyota HiLux range of $600 to $1400 – depending on the model – from start of production in August 2022, which should equate to October 2022 arrivals, pending any delays.

However, these price rises are a guide only and the final figures could change.

“The timing and release of pricing is under study and will be announced closer to showroom arrival,” Toyota dealers have been advised.

Toyota Australia recommended that dealers prepare customers who place future orders to expect a price increase.

The price rise is expected to impact all models in the Toyota HiLux range except for the Rogue and Rugged X flagship editions.

It is unclear if these flagship models – which are the most expensive in the line-up at about $75,000 drive-away – will be protected from the next round of price increases, or will be subject to an even bigger price rise than the $600 to $1400 bump foreshadowed for the rest of the range.

The Toyota HiLux has been Australia’s top-selling vehicle for the past six years in a row and leads the new-car market so far this year ahead of the second-placed Ford Ranger.
