Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior production ramps up

Local final assembly of Nissan’s flagship ute is shifting up a gear to meet record demand – and shorten waiting times.

Nissan is working overtime to reduce the waiting time for the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior ute.

Final assembly of the locally-engineered – and locally-enhanced – flagship Nissan Navara is now running at a rate of 45 vehicles per week, a 40 per cent increase of the initial output of 32 vehicles per week.

Former Ford Performance Vehicles engineering firm Premcar completes the final assembly of the Nissan Navara Warrior – which arrives in Melbourne from the Thailand factory as a Pro-4X – before Australian-engineered off-road upgrades are fitted locally.

The completed vehicles are then sent to Nissan dealers across Australia.

With a more stable supply of ‘donor’ Navara Pro-4X models from Nissan, Premcar is now completing 10 Navara Warrior utes a day from Monday to Thursday, and five examples on Friday – with each taking about 8 hours to complete from start to finish.

The increase in production is designed to help reduce waiting times, which are currently about three months.

Engineering and assembly firm Premcar says it can ramp up output even further, but is currently waiting on a production boost out of the Thailand factory.

Nissan Australia boss Adam Patterson said the Warrior edition accounts for approximately 26 per cent of Pro-4X Navara sales.

“We are selling every example we can get our hands on,” said Mr Patterson. “Every example we build is spoken for … but we are doing our best to reduce waiting times.”
