2021 Mercedes-Benz S450 recalled in Australia with airbag fault

The fault could cause the airbags to deploy without warning, according to the manufacturer.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 27 examples of its flagship 2021 Mercedes-Benz S450 sedan, citing an airbag fault.

The affected vehicles are stamped Model Year 2021.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “During manufacture the airbag control unit may not have been secured to the vehicle correctly and may detect incorrect acceleration values whilst driving.

“Due to the incorrect acceleration value the airbag control unit might deploy the occupant restraint systems incorrectly and in the event of a crash it might not get activated.  This could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”
