Expect to see an all-new version of the iconic turbocharged WRX and a new two-door BRZ coupe in 2022.
Subaru Australia ended 2021 on a high, having sold around 20 per cent more cars compared to the year before.
Looking forward to 2022, it seems performance car buyers should also be overjoyed. The brand famous for its bonnet scoops and high-rise spoilers is expected to offer just that, with the all-new 2022 Subaru WRX, newly-renamed 2022 Subaru WRX Sportswagon and 2022 Subaru BRZ set to arrive in first half of the year.
In terms of the all-paw rally-inspired hero, government documents indicate will be five trim grades, two body types and two transmission options. The 2022 Subaru WRX sedan will come with a choice of manual and ‘eight-speed’ CVT (automatic) transmissions, whereas the 2022 Subaru WRX Sportswagon will in the footsteps of the superseded Levorg wagon by coming solely with a CVT.
The coupe is a much simpler affair, with the 2022 Subaru BRZ offered in ‘regular’ and S models, both with the choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. If you want one, you better order now – this year’s allocation of 500 vehicles to Australia has already sold out.
The all-new Subaru WRX range is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2022 (April to June), and the 2022 Subaru BRZ in Q1. If you’re interested in our first impressions on the 2022 Subaru BRZ, click here.
