Skoda is bringing an all-new city car to Australia, while its medium and large SUVs will also score a mid-life update.
Skoda enjoyed a stellar year in Australia in 2021, with sales up almost 50 per cent over 2020 figures. Those numbers came largely on the back of its Kamiq small SUV.
To keep things fresh this year, the Czech brand’s medium and large SUVs – Karoq and Kodiaq respectively – get a mid-life update, due here in the first three months of 2022. Of note, the range-topping Kodiaq RS has swapped out its 176kW/500Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder for a 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four, as found under the bonnet of the Skoda Octavia RS.
Later months will see an all-new Skoda Fabia lob locally, in March or April.
Built on the broader Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0 platform, Skoda’s city car has undergone a big growth spurt, measuring in 110mm longer, 48mm wider, 7mm lower and 94mm longer in wheelbase than the third-generation Fabia it replaces. Boot capacity has expanded too, up 50 litres to 380L.
