Christmas is just around the corner, and here at Drive we are all about spreading the Christmas cheer.

With that in mind, we teamed up with Mini to gather some fun and useful gifts and donate them to those who need them most.

The 2021 Mini Countryman PHEV was the perfect partner to complete the task.

A small SUV known for its versatility and practicality, the Countryman offers a very flexible interior, while the plug-in hybrid gave us impressive urban economy.

One of the Countryman’s greatest attributes is its rear space, which is easily configurable for a multitude of needs.

The boot provides 405L of cargo volume with the seats up and 1275L with the rear seats folded.

The seats are configured in a 40:20:40 combination, and can be split three ways to allow the middle seat to remain upright.

Some variants offer a sliding rear row that allows the bench to move forward in a 60:40 split. This is great if you need to bring young passengers a bit closer to adults up front, but sometimes better for taller occupants to slide back for more legroom.

It’s this clever arrangement that gave us more than enough room to pack the rear with Christmas goodies.

After visiting Ikea and Baby Bunting, we set off to our chosen charity – Big Group Hug.

The not-for-profit organisation works with local communities to respond to the immediate material needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families.

While there are various ways to donate, we distributed our gifts to a local volunteer at their home.
