More than 250 examples of the 2022 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior have hit the road in Australia – and initial demand is so strong, the wait now stretches up to three months to take delivery.
The Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior is a locally-developed, hardcore off-road version of the updated Navara.
And while semiconductor shortages have slammed the brakes on new vehicle deliveries across the automotive industry globally, Nissan says the Navara has until recently been able to keep pace with demand.
“Navara would be our best supplied product right now,” said Nissan Australia boss Adam Paterson. “Luckily we’ve had, I would say, the least impact as far as supply is concerned out of the Thailand (Nissan Navara) plant thus far.”
However, the waiting time was longer for some models compared to others.
“Supply is still tighter than we would like to be, and the model mix is not optimal,” said Mr Paterson.
“We haven’t had as many Pro-4X as the market is demanding. We’ve had more SL (model grade examples) than the market has been demanding. But the Navara is one of our better supplied products, put it that way.”
The Nissan Australia boss says the company has already delivered approximately 250 examples of the new Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior over the past two months, “and the Warrior order bank is currently over 200.”
To fulfil those orders, Nissan’s performance vehicle partner Premcar (formerly the outfit responsible for Ford Performance Vehicles) is doing final assembly on between 35 and 40 Navara Pro-4X Warriors each week at its Melbourne facility.
“But the order bank is running at almost the same pace,” said Mr Paterson. “So the order bank seems to be moving at the same pace at which we’re building, so we haven’t been able to run down (the waiting time).
“Customers are getting their vehicles, but we’re building them at the same rate as orders are coming in. So it’s about a two and a half to three month wait right now, I’d say.”
The Nissan Navara 4×4 sales are up by 28 per cent in the first 10 months of this year, in an overall new-car market that is up by 22.7 per cent.
