Michael Schumacher documentary coming to Netflix

Online streaming network Netflix will release a documentary next month about F1 legend Michael Schumacher, who has been recovering in secret from a near-death skiing accident in 2013.

A new documentary about former Formula One champion Michael Schumacher – who has not been seen in public since being admitted to hospital to recover from a horrific skiing accident in 2013 – will be broadcast on streaming service Netflix next month.

Netflix has released a trailer for the film which includes interviews with Schumacher’s wife Corrina and son Mick, who is also a Formula 1 driver.

Schumacher’s protégé and former F1 champion Sebastian Vettel also appears in the documentary.

In 2013, Schumacher suffered a devastating brain injury from a skiing accident, and has not been seen in public since.

It’s not yet known whether he will make an appearance in the film – beyond the extensive historical racing footage.

The family has said little about Michael Schumacher’s health in the years since the accident.

However, in 2019 the family released a statement saying it was doing “everything humanly possible” to help him, including the use of stem cell therapy.

Schumacher will debut on overseas Netflix services on 15 September 2021. Drive has contacted Netflix to confirmed whether the film will be shown in Australia, and this story will be updated with its response.
