Nissan heritage program kicks off with parts for R32 GT-R

Nissan has launched the Nismo Heritage program in Japan, aimed at keeping classic cars running well into the future with newly-produced spare parts.

Jointly run by Nissan, Nissan Motorsports, Autech, and a handful of suppliers, the first beneficiary of the scheme is the legendary R32 Skyline GT-R.

At its inception, Nismo Heritage will produce and sell around 80 ‘brand new’ spare parts, which it deems “indispensable for the car to drive or to pass regular vehicle inspections in Japan”. These include harnesses, hoses, badges, bumpers and other exterior components.

Parts will be sold from December 1, 2017, in Japan. In a statement, Nissan says it will consider expanding the range of R32 GT-R parts on offer, as well as extending the program to the R33 and R34 Skyline GT-R models.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Nissan is keen eager to point out the R32 Skyline GT-R, produced from August 1989 to January 1995, is considered a classic, with an impressive trophy cabinet to boot.

These include 1991 and 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship, as well as the Bathurst 1000 races in those years, along with overall honours at the 1991 Spa 24 Hours, and the Japanese Touring Car Championship for four years straight from 1990 to 1993.

Nissan has yet to indicate when (or if) parts from the Nismo Heritage program will be officially available overseas.
