The BMW X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions have been revealed this week, bringing a range of black-themed enhancements to the super-SUV pair.
Available in overseas markets from August, the Black Fire Editions of the X5 M and X6 M gain exterior changes like Sapphire Black metallic paint, carbon-fibre mirror caps, 21-inch forged M alloy wheels in black, and black chrome trim for the double kidney front grille.
Inside, the pair of Black Fire Editions gain bi-colour Merino leather trim in black and Mugello Red, with contrasting red trim throughout the cabin, an ‘X5 M Edition Black Fire’ or ‘X6 M Edition Black Fire’ logo on the dashboard, along with a BMW M Performance Alcantara steering wheel with light blue leather motorsport accent.
Under the bonnet is the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 found in the ‘regular’ X5 M and X6 M, developing 423kW of power and 750Nm of torque.
All that grunt is sent to a rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, allowing both models to accelerate to 100km/h from a standstill in 4.2 seconds.
Australia
While the X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions haven’t been confirmed for our market, the local arm has expressed interest in these models.
Speaking with CarAdvice, Adam Davis, manager for corporate communications at BMW Australia, said the firm has “put [its] hand up for these variants”.
“We are currently working through how they would sit in the local space and hope to confirm availability shortly,” he said. “Should that proceed, we’d expect cars from November.”
