GM won’t sell Holden badge to Australia for $1, Chinese sale unlikely

General Motors will not sell the iconic Holden logo to Australia for $1 – or offer it to a Chinese car company that might use the famous badge to rebrand its vehicles. Holden boss Kristian Aquilina told a Senate Inquiry in Canberra today that General Motors in Detroit will formally decline a request earlier this year by Queensland Senator James McGrath to offer the Holden badge to Australia for $1 to preserve its future.

2021 Mazda3 Turbo on wish list for Australia, but still not confirmed

Mazda Australia is lobbying Japan to introduce a turbocharged hot hatch version of the new Mazda 3. The Japanese car maker has been without a hot hatch locally since the Mazda 3 MPS was dropped after two generations were sold from 2006 to 2012. The previous Mazda3 MPS models were powered by a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder (190kW/380Nm) matched to a six-speed manual sending power to the front wheels.

World's fastest SUVs go head-to-head in drag race

A drag race between four of the world's fastest SUVs has been conducted by carwow.com, and the results may surprise you. Taking place over a quarter mile stretch of runway in the UK, the race included a Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi RSQ8. All four brands are part of the giant Volkswagen Group, and share much of their underpinnings and mechanicals. The Lamborghini Urus has a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 478 kW and 850Nm of torque.
