You feel so safe in this car. It glides effortlessly wherever you go. With Select Sport suspension and power, the car changes personality and handles mountain bends easily, well above the posted advisory speed. Servicing will be done by former Mercedes mechanics of good repute and long standing in the Mercedes community. I broke a rear vent and sourced one from a Mercedes-Benz parts place in America, via DHL in less than a week, for a third of the local price for a genuine part.

The W222 S-Class is the last of the truly distinct Sonderklasse cars. Inside you feel ‘special’ and cosseted. Gorgeous, high-quality fixtures and fittings are everywhere you look and touch. Fabulous mood lighting. Outside, the gleaming Designo Diamond White paint glistens in full sun and sparkles under street lights at night.

So far, it has been extremely reliable. Apart from its sheer size, it’s a very practical car for around town or long, loping country or interstate drives. The boot size is compromised by the hybrid battery, but it’s still adequate for two to three people to go away for a decent trip. However, I’m not a big fan of Mercedes Maps so I use Google Maps or Waze. I have also found that the glovebox is an odd shape and too small.
