Mazda has updated the CX-30 small SUV with improved interior technology for top-of-the-range models – though the SUV is now more expensive across the board.

The 2024 Mazda CX-30 will be $1380 and $1680 more expensive – with the addition of a larger infotainment screen on top models, and other new features – but will no longer be available in seven of its previous 14 model variants when it arrives in showrooms in January 2024.
For 2024, Mazda has axed the entry-level CX-30 G20 Pure manual – the only three-pedal variant previously available – as well as the ‘X20’ SkyActiv-X and mild-hybrid ‘G20e’ engine offerings, attributed to low demand.
The automatic-equipped G20 Pure is now the least-expensive CX-30, priced from $32,990 plus on-road costs – up $1380 compared to the outgoing automatic version, and $2380 more than the axed manual base model.
The CX-30 G20 Evolve has been hit by the same $1380 price rise, while the CX-30 Touring is now $1480 more expensive across both the G20 2.0-litre and G25 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines.
The biggest price increase has been applied to the flagship CX-30 Astina, with its G20 and G25 variants going up by $1680.
A new sport-themed CX-30 G25 ‘GT SP’ variant has been added as an indirect replacement to the Touring SP – slotting between the Touring and Astina – with black alloy wheels, a black front grille and mirror caps, a sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and heated burgundy leather front seats.
As previously reported, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 will be equipped with a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display which gains wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – but only for the GT SP and Astina variants.
The existing 8.8-inch screen and wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto will remain for the Pure, Evolve and Touring grades, though it is available as a part of the optional Vision Technology pack.
The package – which is also available for the GT SP for $1300 – adds a 360-degree camera, driver monitoring technology, front parking sensors (Pure and Evolve only), front cross-traffic alert, and Cruising and Traffic Support traffic-jam assist and lane centring technology.
The Mazda CX-30 is now powered by a choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines – a 114kW/200Nm 2.0-litre and a 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre – after the SkyActiv-X (which featured spark-controlled compression ignition and a 24-volt supercharger) and 24-volt mild-hybrid were dropped.
Mazda claims the 2.0-litre has been updated to consume 0.2 litres less petrol than the mild-hybrid version did – in lab-test conditions – now returning a claimed fuel consumption figure of 6.3L/100km.
Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, driving either the front or all four wheels, depending on specification.
The 2024 Mazda CX-30 is due in Australian showrooms from January 2024.
