Despite slowing sales and rising prices, the Gladiator will stay on sale in Australia while the plug gets pulled in Europe.
The Jeep Gladiator will continue to be offered in Australia for the time being, despite slowing sales in 2023 and facing the axe in Europe.
A representative from Jeep Australia told Drive there are no current considerations for axing the Gladiator ute in Australia, and any news regarding future updates will come in due course.
The Jeep Gladiator will bow out of Europe with a final run of V6 diesel-powered FarOut editions, which will be based upon the high-grade Overland trim and get special badging and styling.
This follows on from similar news in the United States, where the V6 diesel-powered Gladiator will also reach the end of the line.
The petrol-powered Gladiator will continue in Jeep’s home market however, with a mid-life update to be revealed at the upcoming Detroit motor show later this week (September 13, US time).
The Jeep Gladiator four-wheel drive ute is the slowest seller in the 4×4 ute class in Australia, with only 583 deliveries reported so far in 2023 (up to the end of August) in VFACTS industry sales data.
It is down 43 per cent compared to the same period in 2022 (1029 sales reported) – and 1397 sales reported for the entirety of 2022.
Slowing sales for the Gladiator in Australia have come at the same time as price increases by Jeep. Compared to the launch price of a Gladiator Rubicon of $76,450 plus on-road costs in 2020, the same car is now more than $10,000 more expensive, with a before on-roads asking price of $87,250.
