Danish hypercar, Zenvo Aurora, blends hybrid technology with a V12 engine – and an astronomical price.
The Aurora emerges as a wild new hypercar from Danish car maker Zenvo. Named after the Northern Lights – the Aurora Borealis – this lightweight creation generates a huge output from its V12 engine paired to a hybrid system.
The Zenvo Aurora comes in two versions. The Zenvo Aurora Tur, named for its touring capabilities, omits a front electric motor, transforming it into a rear-wheel-drive lightweight variant with a dry weight of 1300kg – the lightest car Zenvo has ever built.
On the other hand, the Zenvo Aurora Agil (agility) touts an all-wheel-drive setup with front-axle torque vectoring. This configuration offers improved grip and on-road performance at the cost of an extra 150kg over the front axle.
The model has an exposed carbon fibre monocoque chassis called ‘ZM1’ and offers “Formula 1 levels of structural safety”, which might be needed with the lightning-fast acceleration figures claimed.
Underneath the bodywork is a 6.6-litre quad-turbo V12 hybrid engine developed in collaboration with Mahle Powertrain. It produces a staggering 1360kW of power and 1400Nm of torque.
Along with the bold claim about engine output is the ambitious 0–100km/h time: a claimed 2.3 seconds (if true) makes it faster than even the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.
The Danish firm also claims the V12 hybrid supercar can reach 300km/h from a standstill in 9 seconds and hit 400km/h in 17 seconds. Its claimed top speed: 450 km/h.
All of this is combined with a claimed electric-only driving range of 24km thanks to hybrid power and an on-board battery pack.
The Zenvo Aurora has a hefty price tag starting at €3.6 million ($AU6.1 million). Zenvo says it plans to build a limited run of only 100 cars, evenly split between the Tur and Agil specifications. The production is set to commence in 2025, with customers due to take delivery a year later.
