The factory-backed Australian importer and right-hand-drive converter of Ram Trucks has announced a recall of more than 400 diesel 1500 pick-up due to a fuel pump defect.
The factory-backed company responsible for importing and converting Ram Trucks to right-hand-drive in Australia has recalled 437 examples of the Ram 1500 ‘DS’, due to a manufacturing defect which could lead to fuel pump failure.
The recall only affects examples of Ram’s ‘DS’-generation 1500 pick-ups which are powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine – not V8 petrol versions.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, the High-Pressure Fuel Pump could fail prematurely and introduce failed component debris into the fuel system.
“This could impair the fuel supply to the engine and result in a loss of power whilst driving.
“A loss of power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.”
