Infiniti is set to soon show off a concept in the US, which should give us our best glimpse at the new Nissan Patrol.
The next-generation Nissan Patrol is expected to be previewed in the coming months, by way of the car maker’s luxury arm.
According to a report from US publication CarBuzz, a senior executive has confirmed a new Infiniti QX80 Monograph Concept would be shown in June 2023 – which would preview the next generation of the rebadged luxury version of the Nissan Patrol.
Infiniti – which is to Nissan what Lexus is to Toyota – first showed a QX80 Monograph Concept back in 2017 which previewed the most recent facelift of the large SUV.
While CarBuzz refers to the QX80 as “all-new”, previous unconfirmed reports suggested the Patrol may be a significant evolution of the current model, rather than a clean-sheet model – much like the new Nissan Z sports car was adapted from the 14-year-old 370Z.
Both the Patrol and its luxury twin have been on sale for 13 years, with the Nissan receiving its most recent facelift in 2019.
The news comes just months after the first images of what were believed to be Nissan Patrol prototypes were spied testing in the Middle East, seemingly wearing the same bodywork as the current model, but likely testing updating underpinnings and engines.

A number of overseas reports claim the Patrol could drop its 5.6-litre petrol V8 engine in favour of a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine – aligning the Patrol with its oldest rival, the V6-powered LandCruiser wagon.
In September 2022, a senior Nissan engineer told Australian media the company’s hybrid technology was “scalable” for larger vehicles such as the Patrol.
However, the forthcoming model may not see a significant move towards electrification, given its focus on markets such as the Middle East where reducing vehicle emissions is not a primary concern.
