Chargefox announces price rises for 20 fast-charging stations

Electric vehicle charging network Chargefox has announced a price increase for a select number of its fast-charging stations in New South Wales and Victoria.

The biggest electric vehicle charging network in Australia, Chargefox, is increasing the cost of 20 of its 50kW DC charging stations located across New South Wales and Victoria.

Those electric-car charging stations will now charge 45 cents per kilowatt-hour – an increase of five cents per kilowatt-hour, or 11 per cent – while the fees at ultra-rapid (350kW) charging stations will remain unaffected at 60 cents per kWh.

The increase comes as a result of recent rises in energy prices at isolated owned and operated sites.

Specific sites include Ballina, Karuah, Gundagai, Goulburn, Cooma, Zetland and Sydney in NSW, along with Euroa, Barnawartha, Airport West, Torquay, Moe, Horsham and Ballarat in Victoria.

Chargefox isn’t the first to implement increases, with fellow charging network companies in Evie and Ampol announcing price hikes last month.

Both networks’ rises were more significant with Ampol’s AmpCharge increasing nine cents (15 per cent) at its 150kW chargers, with Evie up 40 cents per kWh (12.5 per cent) across its 50kW stations.

The cost increases for selected Chargefox networks will commence from the 15th of March 2023.
