2023 Nissan Pathfinder range slashed to two models months after arriving in showrooms

The Nissan Pathfinder seven-seat SUV range has been cut from five models to two just three months after going on sale.

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder seven-seat SUV range has been slashed to two model grades just three months after the new-generation model arrived in showrooms.

Details published on the Nissan Australia website show only two versions of the new Pathfinder – which began deliveries in November 2022.

Only the top-of-the-range Ti and Ti-L all-wheel drive models remain – and the cheapest variants have been axed.

Dealers have told Drive the ST and ST-L base models – as well as the front-wheel-drive Ti – have been dropped from the local line-up due to supply restrictions, and Nissan Australia has elected to prioritise more profitable models.

It means the starting price for a new Nissan Pathfinder has increased by $13,800.

Previously the range started from $54,190 plus on-road costs for the ST front-wheel drive.

Now the cheapest model in the new Nissan Pathfinder range has climbed to $67,990 plus on-road costs for the Ti all-wheel drive.

This follows price increases of $8350 to $11,150 for the new-generation Pathfinder range when it went on sale last year.

Four years ago, an entry-level Nissan Pathfinder ST started from $44,240 plus on-road costs – almost $24,000 less than today’s entry point, the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Ti AWD.

Since deliveries began in Australia, Nissan has reported 261 examples of the new Pathfinder as sold – after an 18-month gap between old and new models.
