2023 BMW Z4 facelift leaked

“>@wilcoblok – the leaked image reveals changes for the ‘facelifted’ Z4 will be minor, limited up front to new inserts for the main ‘kidney’ grilles and outer air intakes.

The purple exterior colour is also new, and may be the Thundernight Metallic hue seen on the latest-generation 2 Series coupe.

Spy photos suggest there will be no changes to the roadster’s rear end, nor any major upgrades in its interior, indicating it will retain dual 10.25-inch screens running BMW’s previous-generation iDrive 7 software.

Under the bonnet, rumours suggest the current range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines may carry over, from the 145kW/320Nm sDrive20i, to the 285kW/500Nm M40i flagship.

However, as previously reported by Drive, the M40i variant is rumoured to gain the option of a six-speed manual transmission from March 2024 production, in addition to its standard eight-speed automatic.

Few other changes are expected with the Z4’s mid-life update, which is due to go into production this November – four years after the current model launched, and a few months after the latest version of its twin under the skin, the 2023 Toyota GR Supra.

The 2023 update for the Z4 is expected to be its final styling upgrade before the current-generation model is discontinued in late 2025 – with no successor on the horizon.

Expect a full unveiling for the 2023 BMW Z4 in the coming weeks, ahead of the start of production in November – and estimated first Australian deliveries early next year.
