Two big collections of Australian muscle cars will go under the hammer in the coming weeks, with two expecting to fetch in excess of $500,000 each.
Two of Australia’s largest collectible vehicle auction houses are putting more than 500 muscle cars under the hammer in the coming weeks – with a total combined value of more than $13 million.
Within the listings is prized metal, including an iconic 1988 Holden VL Group A Walkinshaw with just 15,667 kilometres on its odometer. As a price guide, another example – also sold by Lloyds Auctions – has expectations of fetching $1 million.
Also of note in the same Lloyds Auctions catalogue of 400 vehicles is a 2008 HSV W427 that’s travelled 2308 kilometres from new.
Powered by a 7.0-litre ‘LS7’ V8 that produced 375kW/640Nm, the W427 had the biggest engine ever fitted to an Australian-made production car.

This 2008 HSV W427 could go under the hammer for $250,000. -

Over in the Shannons catalogue of 120 curated vehicles, price guides range from $10,000 for a tidy 1998 Ford Falcon EL GLI to over $500,000 for a 1922 Delage CO2 Hispano-Suiza Aero engine Special.
The pre-war sports coupe – built by defunct French luxury marque Delage and powered by a historically-significant Hispano Suiza engine – is believed to be one of nine left in the world.
If you prefer later mode yet unique metal, a curiously right-hand drive 2000 Lincoln LS is being offered with a guide of $10,000-$15,000.
The Lloyds Classic Car auction ends on 29 January 2022, and the Shannons Sumer Timed Online auction on 22 February 2022.
