In 2022, Volvo has some exciting updates coming, along with an all-new, coupe-styled version of its popular XC40.
Volvo saw an increase in sales last year – up 17.2 per cent. With updates to plug-in hybrid versions of its 60 Series and 90 Series cars and SUVs, plus the launch of an all-new model at the end of 2022, it’s set to be a big year for the Swedish car maker Down Under.
The 2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge and 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge will score updates early this year.
The plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) will receive a larger, more energy dense battery pack offering 18.8kWh of capacity (up from 11.6kWh), along with a more powerful rear electric motor. Driving range (according to Europe’s WLTP cycle) will increase to 68km in the XC90 Recharge and to 76km in the XC60.
The facelifted Volvo XC40 is due to arrive in the back half of 2022, boasting a choice of mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric power. It will also receive an exterior upgrade with a new look, and a handful of new colours available.
Finally, the C40 Recharge is an all-new model for the brand – sitting alongside the XC40 as a sportier, coupe-styled option. Powering the model will be two electric motors and a 78kWh battery to produce 300kW and 660Nm.
