Aston Martin V12 Vantage teased, confirmed for Australia in 2022

The model could be Aston Martin’s last powered by a V12 engine, and is due in Australian showrooms next year.

The upcoming Aston Martin V12 Vantage sports car – which could be one of the British marque’s last V12-powered vehicles – has been teased online, ahead of the first customer deliveries next year.

Positioned alongside a limited-production 2018 V12 Vantage V60 and previous-generation 2012 V12 Vantage, the new images reveal a traditional Aston Martin trapeze grille, sleek LED headlights, and front splitter.

Power is slated to come from the manufacturer’s existing 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine which, unlike the Mercedes-AMG-derived V8 used in many new models, was designed and built in-house.

In the low-volume Aston Martin Speedster open-top supercar (shown above) – which is built on a modified Vantage platform – this engine sends 515kW/753Nm to the road via an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in a claimed 3.5 seconds on the way to a top speed in excess of 300km/h.

Drive understands the Aston Martin V12 Vantage is destined for Australian showrooms next year, however pricing and local specifications are yet to be confirmed.

Earlier this year, Aston Martin revealed a new ‘F1 Edition’ version of its V8-powered Vantage loosely inspired by the Formula One official safety car.

A battery-electric successor to the current-generation Vantage is slated for reveal in 2025 – which you can read about in full by clicking here – with a heavy facelift for the current car due in 2023, to keep the petrol-powered model fresh.
