2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake price and specs

South Korea’s rival for BMW and Audi wagons has arrived in Australia, but the sedan’s potent 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 option won’t be available.

  • 2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake pricing and specifications
  • Turbo four-cylinder power only; no V6 on offer
  • Sedan’s optional packs bundled as standard
  • Priced from $79,000 before on-road costs

The 2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake wagon has arrived in Australia, priced from $79,000 before on-road costs.

Pitched at the BMW 3 Series Touring and Audi A4 Avant, the G70 Shooting Brake is a long-roof version of the Korean luxury brand’s G70 mid-size sedan – but unlike the four-door model, Genesis will offer the wagon in a sole choice of variant.

Powering that variant is the four-door’s entry-level 179kW/353Nm 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine – meaning the high-output 274kW/510Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 is off-limits, likely owing to the Shooting Brake’s European focus, where the 3.3-litre V6 is not available in sedan nor wagon body styles (partly due to emissions restrictions).

The 2.0-litre engine sends drive to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, as per the related sedan.

While the G70 Shooting Brake’s $79,000 list price might fall $16,000 above the entry price of its sedan sibling – and within $2000 of a BMW 330i Touring M Sport ($80,971 before on-road costs) – the Genesis wagon offers most of the contents of the G70 sedan’s Luxury and Sport Line Packages as standard, cutting the difference between body styles to $2000.

Standard equipment in the wagon includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, digital radio and navigation, a 12.3-inch 3D instrument cluster, 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo performance brakes, a limited-slip differential (both typically part of the Sport Line Package), Luxury Line-like exterior styling, adaptive LED headlights, and a panoramic sunroof.

There’s also a 15-speaker Lexicon sound system, electric front seats with heating and ventilation, heated rear seats and steering wheel, nappa leather upholstery, and a full suite of safety technology including adaptive cruise control, lane following assist and 10 airbags.

Genesis claims 465 litres of boot space (VDA) in the wagon with the rear seats upright, compared to 330 litres in the sedan.

The no-cost optional Sport Line Styling Package for the Shooting Brake adds grey 19-inch Sport alloy wheels, dark chrome exterior accents, and a Sport Line interior with sports pedals, aluminium trim, and unique seat quilting.

A total of 15 exterior colours are available – including three matte finishes exclusively available with the Sport Line package – plus seven interior colours.

The 2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is now on sale in Australia.
