2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300: Some cars might arrive by Christmas

Australians with a pre-order will be the most likely to be one of the first recipients of the new LandCruiser down-under.

Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss Sean Hanley is hopeful that first deliveries of the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series will made by Christmas this year.

It’s a tantalising detail for one of the most highly anticipated new models coming to Australia, which is also being delayed heavily by the global semiconductor shortage.

Toyota Australia recently outlined the extensive delays being experienced across their model range, with the Rav4 Hybrid and LandCruiser 70 Series being amongst the worst affected.

The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series – the first all-new model in fourteen years – will also be affected by these shortaged, with delays of up to 12 months quoted being quoted by dealers.

And while 500 examples of the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have landed in Australia, these are earmarked as demonstrator vehicles only and won’t be initially available for purchase.

But for a lucky few in Australia, there is a chance that Christmas could be extra special this year with a new LandCruiser 300 Series in the driveway.

Sean Hanley – head of sales and marketing for Toyota Australia –told Australian motoring media that dealers will continue to take orders, and those demonstrator LandCruisers are currently on their way to dealerships around the country.

“We know that we won’t get any right-hand drive (LandCruisers) out of September or October (from the factory in Japan). ” he explained.

“We expect to get an update on that situation towards the end of this month, at which time we will update the motoring media and our customers.”

“We are taking orders. We are hopeful that will get some right-hand drive LandCruisers in November and December, and we are hopeful that we will have some cars on the road for our customers before Christmas.”

“Particularly, those who were the early adopters and had pre-orders. They will be prioritised by our dealer network.”

Mr Hanley also highlighted the importance of transparency with Toyota’s customers during this time.

“We’re in an evolving situation, it’s changing.”

“(The LandCruiser) is such a deeply important car to the Toyota brand.

“We’ll get LandCruisers, they will come. And we’ll sell a lot of LandCruisers.”

“What our dealer network is committed to do, is to tell our customers the truth about our supply situation.”
