off worst in a head-on collision with a lamp post.A prototype of the upcoming 2022 Maserati Grecale mid-size SUV has crashed during on-road testing in Italy, just days after the model’s launch was pushed back.
As first reported by La Repubblica and Instagram account Wilcoblok, the incident happened at a roundabout at the Piazza Polonia in the northern city of Turin overnight.
A Ford was also reportedly involved in the crash, however no one was seriously injured. It’s unclear if the incident will impact the all-new vehicle’s development schedule.
After initially promising a reveal on 16 November, 2021, last week Maserati announced the Grecale had been delayed until “early next year” due to “interruptions in the supply chains for the key components necessary to complete the … process.”
“Dates are yet to be finalised; however, the new model will likely arrive in local showrooms during the first second of next year,” a spokesperson for Ateco, Maserati’s Australian importer, told Drive at the time.Last month a variety of un-camouflaged preproduction Grecale parts were leaked online.
