Covid-19 concerns force the cancellation of yet another Grand Prix

%he 2021 Japanese Grand Prix has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

Yet another Formula One event has been removed from the 2021 calendar, with organisers pulling the pin on this year’s Japanese Grand Prix.

The race at the famous Suzuka circuit was scheduled for 10 October as part of a triple-header between the Russian Grand Prix and Turkish GP.

“Following ongoing discussions with the promoter and authorities in Japan the decision has been taken by the Japanese government to cancel the race this season due to ongoing complexities of the pandemic in the country. Formula One is now working on the details of the revised calendar and will announce the final details in the coming weeks,” a statement from Formula One said.

Japan is not the first event to be taken off the calendar due to Covid-19 concerns with Turkey, Singapore and Australia already removed from the season.

The cancellation could prompt yet another reshuffle to the F1 calendar, with talk already of a second American Grand Prix to be held in Austin.
