The Citroen DS3 Crossback has been snapped playing in the snow, offering a glimpse at the first PSA Group product built on the new CMP platform.
Announced last year, the Common Modular Platform (CMP) will eventually underpin the Peugeot 208, and was launched alongside a version designed to support electrified powertrains.
With range of 450km and an ultra-fast charging system designed to deliver 12km of driving per minute of charging, the e-CMP underpinnings will form the base for at least four pure-electric vehicles.
When it launches in 2019, the electric DS3 Crossback is expected to make 84kW of power and sport a 50kWh battery.
Beyond the powertrain, details about the Crossback are thin on the ground. The rounded shapes under the zebra camouflage suggest Citroen will continue with its cutesy, squircle-inspired styling language.
The raked roofline has been conceived in a similar vein to the Audi Q2 and Mini Countryman – not surprising, given they’re the cars DS is targeting with the Crossback.
