2014-18 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk recalled for recovery straps

The 2014-18 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is affected by a recall involving recovery straps that do not comply with the labelling requirements of Australian law.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), parent company of Jeep, reports that the incorrect labelling could lead consumers using the strap in an “unsafe manner”.

The vehicle recovery straps were supplied with the off-road focused Cherokee Trailhawk variant, with labels that don’t comply with the Consumer Goods (Motor Vehicle Recovery Straps) Safety Standard 2017, nor the Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard) (Motor Vehicle Recovery Straps) Regulations 2010.

Owners are advised to “stop using the product immediately”, with FCA to contact consumers in order to schedule a booking with a local dealer to have the strap inspected and repaired/replaced at no cost.
