2017 is almost over. It’s time for Christmas parties, sunshine and rose-tinted reflection on the year gone by. But here at CarAdvice, we aren’t taking our foot off the pedal just yet – instead, we’re taking the chance to look back at your favourite comparisons from this year.
5. Ford Ranger XLT v Volkswagen Amarok V6 Highline
“The space between working ute and family SUV is getting greyer.”
The humble ute became Australia’s vehicle of choice last year, and the trend continued through 2017 – the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger are set to finish first and second on the sales charts this year.
Here, we take a look at two ‘lifestyle utes’ in the Ford Ranger XLT and Volkswagen Amarok V6 Highline.

2. Ford Mustang GT Fastback v Holden Commodore SS-V Redline: Track Test
“Now it’s time to sort the men from the boys, and find out which of our two sub-$60k rear-wheel-drive, V8-powered muscle cars should rightfully be crowned the victor: the Ford or the Holden.”
Before the Stinger came along, another player was trying to steal the affordable performance car crown from the Holden Commodore – the Ford Mustang GT.
Reigniting the age-old Ford vs Holden rivalry, our comparison was segmented into road and track tests – with the latter earning second spot on our most-viewed list for the year.
