The revised MY18.5 Mitsubishi Outlander range has landed in Australia, re-introducing of the ES badge and bringing a lower starting price.
The range now starts with the two-wheel drive ES five-speed manual at $27,990 (all pricing is drive-away, unless otherwise specified). Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 110kW and 190Nm on tap. Although it’s the entry-level car there’s still plenty of standard kit, including a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Jumping to the ES CVT brings a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 124kW and 220Nm, hooked up to, you guessed it, a CVT. Paying the $30,990 cost of entry also brings about a seven-seat layout, but the car is still front-wheel drive – all-wheel drive is an extra $4000 on the ES – while the Mitsubishi ADAS safety suite will set you back an additional $2500.
With forward-collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and reverse sensors, the ADAS package is standard on LS-spec cars. The LS starts at $33,900 in two-wheel drive trim or, if you demand all four wheels be driven, $38,990. A 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox, adds $3,000 to the price.
Topping the internal combustion-only range is the all-wheel drive Exceed, available in petrol ($43,990) and diesel ($46,990) guises. The extra coin gives you more standard safety gear, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alerts.
A millimetre radar unit means the car also gains mis-acceleration mitigation, designed to lessen the impact of (or prevent) rear-end collisions caused by drivers hitting the wrong pedal. Although it has nothing to do with the radar, you also get a sunroof.
Pricing for the PHEV LS and PHEV Exceed remains unchanged, with starting prices of $50,490 and $55,490 respectively before on-roads.
The MY18.5 Outlander is in showrooms now.
Cheers Jordan for the tip!
