Infiniti has announced pricing for the 2018 Q50 refresh, killing the diesel variant and adding more equipment to the rest of the range.
The new lineup kicks off with the 2.0t GT, priced from $54,900 (+$1000) before on-roads. The turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine makes 155kW of power and 350Nm of torque, put to the road through a seven-speed automatic gearbox. A sunroof is a $1990 option, bumping GT pricing to $56,890.
Standard equipment on the GT includes a surround-view monitor, lane-keeping assist, parking sensors front and rear and moving object detection, which alerts the driver to any hazards around the car while parking, in a similar fashion to rear cross-traffic alert. The base model rides on 18-inch wheels as standard.
Jumping up to Sport Premium trim brings the price to $62,400 (+$500) and brings lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, forward-collision warning and auto-emergency braking. A set of 19-inch wheels, along with sportier looks, also separate the Sport Premium from the GT.
Both trim grades have a new steering wheel and gear-lever, while the Sport Premium now gets interior ambient lighting. It’s the little things that matter, right?
The 3.5t Hybrid, with its 219kW and 350Nm powertrain, is only available in Sport Premium trim. You’ll pay $73,400 ($500) for the rear-wheel drive model, and $75,400 (+$500) for the all-wheel drive version.
Jumping to the 3.0t brings a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with 224kW of power and 400Nm of torque. It’s also only available in Sport Premium trim, and kicks off at $70,400 (+$500).
The range-topping 3.0t Red Sport is fitted with the same basic engine, though boosted to a meaty 298kW and 475Nm. Grey inserts in the front and rear bumpers, along with unique wheels, set it apart from Sport Premium cars – though the extra performance should also provide a hint as to what separates the two trim grades.
Inside, Red Sport cars come with red stitching and semi-aniline quilted leather seats as standard, with new foam padding for a more comfortable ride. Pricing starts at $79,900 for the flagship.
Infiniti’s divisive Direct Adaptive Steering (steer-by-wire) is standard across the range, and the adjustable suspension and gearbox can be tweaked using the Drive Mode switch on the transmission tunnel. A digital speedo has also been added to the entire range.
There are ten exterior colours on offer, including a new shade of Dynamic Sandstone Red (pictured).
