Nissan Leaf Nismo concept revealed ahead of Tokyo show

Hot off the heels of its global reveal, the all-new 2018 Nissan Leaf is already getting its sporty on, with the Leaf Nismo Concept teased at an event this week ahead of a likely premiere at the Tokyo motor show later this month.

Shown at the Nissan Futures 3.0 event in Oslo, Norway, the single image shows the new-generation Leaf electric vehicle (EV) with an array of styling enhancements, including Nismo’s signature red highlights throughout the lower body kit, larger alloy wheels, and contrasting black body elements to complement the white body paint.

There’s also a new front bumper design with larger faux-intakes, along with unique LED fog-lights.

Nissan offered few details about the new concept at its event, but the UK’s Autocar reports that company design chief, Alfonso Albaisa, has confirmed a sportier version of the Leaf will soon go into production to appeal to more image-conscious buyers.

Meanwhile, Auto Express reports that the Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept will be revealed officially at the Tokyo motor show later this month, which commences on October 25.

It’s only been a month since the new-generation EV was revealed, sporting a new design, a suite of the company’s ProPilot semi-autonomous driving systems, and a larger 40kWh battery pack with around 400 kilometres of range.
