The upcoming Volkswagen T-Roc SUV has been teased again this week, ahead of its world premiere on August 23.
In the new video published online, the T-Roc’s designers give insights into what what went into the exterior and interior, along with the colour choices and materials.
While we’ve already seen images of the new crossover almost completely undisguised, the clip gives more clues as to what to expect from the interior, which looks to be a little more youthful and colourful of the current crop of Volkswagen’s range.
The T-Roc will also be offered with a dual-tone colour concept much like numerous small SUVs and hatchbacks currently on the market, with contrasting roof colours mentioned in the video along with bright interior highlights and textured seat trims.
Riding on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, the T-Roc will essentially be an SUV companion to the new Polo hatch.
It will share numerous components with the Polo, including engines and infotainment systems, along with the Audi Q2 and the next-generation A1.
Anticipated powertrain choices include the 1.0 TSI that will be available in the Polo with 70kW or 85kW, along with a more powerful 110kW 1.5 TSI petrol. In Europe at least, small-capacity turbo-diesel engines are also likely to be offered.
The video also confirms the Polo’s new digital Active Info display will feature behind the steering wheel, along with the glossy new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system available in the new light hatch.
Australia
Due to high global demand for Volkswagen’s first compact SUV, the company’s local arm has indicated that the T-Roc isn’t likely to hit Australian showrooms until late-2018 or early-2019, meaning the new crossover is at least a year and a bit away.
Stay tuned to CarAdvice for our coverage of the T-Roc’s global debut on August 23.
