Ford quashes rumours of MEB-based Mustang EV

That was fast. Just days after it was reported Ford was considering using the Mustang badge on a smaller, Volkswagen-based electric crossover, a Ford spokesperson has refuted these plans. The spokesperson reached out to Ford Authority, saying, “There are no plans to offer an all-electric Mustang based on VW’s MEB architecture.”

Tesla delivers first Chinese-made Model 3s

Tesla has delivered the first cars from its new factory in Shanghai, China, less than 12 months after breaking ground on the site. The first 15 examples of the Chinese-built Model 3 were handed over to Tesla employees on December 30, according to The New York Times, with one employee proposing to his girlfriend at the event. The only difference between cars built in Shanghai and those assembled in California is the badge, which is Chinese.

Ford 'Baby Bronco' grille leaked

The grille of what appears to be Ford's promised 'Baby Bronco' SUV has been leaked online, revealing details about its rounded lights ahead of its reveal. Images posted on the Bronco6G forum show the black grille cutout, which has space for the letters BRONCO running through its centre. It's quite curved, suggesting the nose of the smaller Bronco model – which could be branded Adventurer or Bronco Sport – won't be all straight lines and hard edges.

Although BMW has gone to the effort of creating a fake set of kidney grilles and a trio of low-set air intakes in the camouflage, but looking through the ruse reveals there's a bit more going on.

BMW prepping i6 for 2024 launch – report

The luxury fastback segment is heating up with BMW planning to join Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Tesla. Autoblog Italia reports a four-door coupe called the i6 will be the next all-electric BMW after the upcoming i4 four-door coupe and iX3 and iNext crossovers. It may appear in 2024, ready to rival the Porsche Taycan and the upcoming Audi e-tron GT and Mercedes-Benz EQS. According to Autoblog, the i6 will feature all-wheel drive and a choice of two electric powertrains.
